We have selected the leather that we feel is best suited for bellows: firm yet pliable. Some pipers prefer a double skinned set of bellows as they don’t billow out as much as a single skinned set when pushing the air into the bag reservoir.
We have been making bellows since 1995 and have found that not all pipers are comfortable with the same type of bellows. As with the pipe bags we manufacture, we offer a service to our customers allowing them to create a bespoke set of bellows. Provide us with a drawing of the shape of bellows with measurements and any other requirements, ie: opening span, cheek sizes, length of outlet pipe, imitation horn, ivory or African black wood.
We will make a template of the clapper boards and keep a record of your design for future reference should you wish to reorder at a later date. We also refurbish or re-leather old or damaged bellows or replicate old sets of bellows (photographs and measurements required).
